This is the start of the StarPoet Newsletter's 11th year. The approximate number of poems published in the newsletter (with a few weeks off for good behavior) is 10 x 50 x 10 or 5000 poems give or take. Some the poems were just ok, some were probably lousy, especially in the earlier issues -- but some of them were quite good and a few can stand on their own merits against the world, past and present. For the record, my website, Starpoet.com has been in continuous operation since 1995, with my presence on the web preceding it by a few years. I have been online long enough to remember the undernet and how to determine when it was time to reconnect to the discussion because the lag time had become too great. I even vaguely remember some DOS commands (ask your parents). |

My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all. -- John Lennon |
