Sappho on the Porch
I sit on her porch,
Watching the tide come slowly,
And wonder how far it will reach.
I listen to the seabirds,
Noticing how the ocean wave
Washes my footprints from the beach.
I wait,
And think of her,
Somewhere out at sea.
