By Sappho
Completed by L. J. Thompson
I am very aware
That my affection
Is oft-times returned with injury.
Why does she pretend to love him now
When we both know where her heart is kept?
Does she really need to be filled that badly?
Look how she ignores me,
Preferring to prick herself
With his hairy body.
He can't even play the lyre correctly
And so far has shown little desire to learn.
